My current form of resistance - building a bigger food garden than I need so that I can share. I recently moved (then got Covid) so integrating myself into this new place and meeting my neighbors seems important. I spent the last week however with family - off the grid, unplugged, on the Olympic Peninsula where my biggest concern was the pile of cougar poop on the trail to the beach. When I came home on Sunday, I felt really different. This all seems important to me to retain perspective.
Yes yes YES!!! Tend the garden, trace the petals with your fingertips, soak up the light from above and within. That's how you stay human and true. (And please note that you still got a couple of good swings in! What you call rest is what others call guts.)
The balance between rest and activity is possible bc of community. This is why community, family, the tribe is absolutely necessary. We don't all have to be active all the time. We won't all rest at the same time. Some will tend to the garden. Some will go hunt for resources. Some will resist in the battlefield. Each has its value, place, and time. And I remind us that rest is not about doing nothing. It is about doing everything you need to stay healthy and get back to your other duties recharged and ready for service. Rest sweetie. Tend to your beautiful garden and family. What essential work you are doing. xo
Again.......such beautiful, tender photos of your daughter.
Thank you, Victoria!

Absolutely, meeting neighbors, nurturing community... and what better way to support and commune with others than with a big food garden?! love it!!!
Oh, love Olympic peninsula. Saturday we're going to Whidbey Island to do the same!
Oh enjoy Whidbey! I spent a few magical summers there as a child at my grandfather's place.

I hear your magic words. It is eternal.
I have been in and out of stellar moments and I trying not to feel so badly about the time that I have been “resting”.
Thank you for the sweet reminders.
