i wish i could laugh at this... the writing is excellent—top-shelf satire—but the whole thing is haunted by the awareness that no amount of public shaming will stop this in time. even if we get out the guillotines for every single one of these sociopathic corporate Renfields (and this is not an endorsement, just a hypothetical) it's not a process controlled by people anymore. it's a self-regulating system, a capitalistic algorithm. there are no humans at the wheel. it's lifeboat time for 99% of the world's population, but we can still help each other.
This is amazing. You make us laugh even though we are filled with dread. Just to let you know, you are not alone in dragging out earth day. I’m a science teacher and have had earth month every April for decades. 😁I live in Florida so it’s risky business teaching actual science but it’s so worth it. There is hope.
Haha! I find it so ironic that lawmakers in Florida are so opposed to talking about climate changing, considering some of Florida is sinking :( I love that you are doing it though! and all month, yay!
Sad but true. It would do us well if a Jesus, or The Jesus came here, turned the tables, smashed up the marketplace, chased out the money changers and threw out the fake, bribe-taking priests of corrupt capitalism (emphasis on corrupt).
Summer! I know this isn't funny, but does a smirk count as an act of restraint? What is the lifespan of sheep, BTW? Seems like the planet is already being overrun by them! Maybe if so many of them were not showing up to vote we wouldn't have to worry so much about "pockets!" ( Sorry "real" sheep). Can you please, pretty please, write the next State of the Union Address - I will be sure to tune into that one! 😉
A very good Jonathon Swiftian take. The only positive thing I could say is that these companies have the infrastructure to implement huge changes in carbon removal and pro earth endeavors, and if it becomes in their existential interest to do so, they suddenly will. I fear that won't be until the tides are wiping out NYC.
I did some traveling in SE Asia last fall and in Hanoi, looking at an absolute sea of motorized vehicles. I mean wall to wall reciprocating engines. Millions of mopeds, buses, trucks, cars…We’re F’d!! This was one big city in a sea of giant cities around the world. My hope is that the little blind spider deep in the caverns below somehow adapts to the heat and survives the multi-million year process of the atmoshere regenerating itself enough for life to re-emerge.
I’m heading out kayaking in Prince William Sound today to spend time with the survivors, as I call them. Life, oblivious to what we humans are doing. I miss the Orca and Beluga whales….but there are still creatures left to share this moment with. I hope you all can find a moment to reconcile with our dear Mother.
The beluga and orca cannot survive the massive underwater wind farms now being built everywhere in the pursuit of less global warming. The solutions are a 100times worse than the problem
Killing the planet? How so? By a slight uptick in CO2 that may or may not be related to a slight uptick in temperature. One thing we know, if we discontinue the use of fossil fuel that makes everything from synthetic fertilizer to , well, just about everything. Before finding a suitable replacement (which happens every 50 to 100 years without any coercive help from leftwing totalitarian do-gooders, motivated only by the forces of capitalism). Than billions will starve. But then, that is the goal of you simple minded do-gooders. Ninety percent population destruction equals 90%carbon reduction, right? Well not really, 90% comes from a combination of those huge tankers shipping products needlessly around the globe to increase the wealth of the oligarchs and the globalist jet set setters who insist that everyone cut back so that they can continue to fly their jets all over the globe for fun and recreation. Exxon is not the problem, you are.

I agree with you 100%. And thank you for the kind words :-)

I wish He would!
The "a" or "The" got me, James. Love it, either one please!
We all have to be the Jesus cuz he ain't here. He may be looking on and if so shaking his fucking head like "what a bunch of jerks".

The orcas and whales have left? I know tardigrades will endure! Have fun kayaking 🌊

Wow, all.of this. It really is too late and folks need to just appreciate paradise while we are in it.
Yep.
What was it he said, "not one drop?"
At least there's less pretense now.
Lol
An acronym you hear frequently in the c suite (albeit more so in fintech) is IWBHYWBH - I won’t be here, you won’t be here.
They’ve gone from denial to nihilism haven’t they??? Anything…ANYTHING other than admit they were wrong!!
Right!
Oooof. Thats brutal!
Welcome to the "oh it's too late to do anything now" phase of extinction -for-profit.
